About the Role

Audio Software Development Lead — Lead the Audio Engine of a Next-Gen Social Media App (Remote)

You’ll own the sound of a new kind of social media app , one built around music, creativity, and real-time expression. This isn’t a feature. Audio is the product. Your job is to make it feel instant, responsive, and alive.

You’ll design and evolve a real-time audio engine powering multitrack playback, MIDI sequencing, streaming audio, and live effects , all tightly synced with video and driven by user interaction. Expect low-latency challenges, complex synchronization problems, and the need to make everything feel seamless across iOS, Android, and Web.

Under the hood, you’ll be deep in C++, working on custom audio engine architecture, DSP, buffering, threading, and performance optimisation. You’ll likely touch frameworks like JUCE or platform-native audio APIs, and build systems that handle real-time signal processing, audio scheduling, and dynamic sound manipulation at scale. If you’ve worked with audio/video sync, streaming pipelines, or building modular, extensible systems, you’ll feel at home.

We’re looking for someone who’s built audio systems from scratch, understands signal processing in practice (not just theory), and has a strong grounding in music itself — rhythm, timing, harmony, feel. You care about latency the way a musician cares about groove, and you know how small technical decisions change the way something feels to a user.

You’ll work across engineering, product, and creative teams, translating interaction into sound and sound into something users can actually feel. AI-driven audio features, real-time manipulation, and rapid iteration are all part of the environment.
