Summary of Role
The Workshop Technician is responsible for managing the Orange USA returns and repair process from start to finish. This includes diagnosing, testing, repairing and maintaining products returned by customers, artists, dealers, distributors and backline companies. The role manages loan stock, workshop spare parts inventory, service records, product quality reporting, and acts as a key technical liaison between Orange USA and the UK technical team. The position also supports advanced technical enquiries, product testing and quality control activities.
Essential Responsibilities

• Manage the complete returns and repair process from receipt through diagnosis, repair, testing and return.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and maintain Orange products including warranty and non-warranty repairs.
• Maintain artist loan stock and demonstration equipment.
• Manage workshop spare parts and component inventory and maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Conduct product testing, validation and quality control checks.
• Perform product rework, modifications and engineering updates as required.
• Maintain accurate repair records within the company repair management system.
• Provide advanced technical support to the US sales and customer service teams.
• Identify recurring product failures and quality trends and report findings to Orange UK.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation.
• Maintain regular communication with the UK technical team regarding repairs and product issues.
• Workshop, warehouse and office environment. Regular use of electronic test equipment and repair tools.
• Occasional lifting and movement of amplifiers, speaker cabinets and related equipment.
• Assist with root cause investigations and continuous product improvement initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
· Experience within the musical instrument or professional audio industry.
· PCB rework and soldering experience.
· Strong organisational and time management skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard business software.
· Excellent attention to detail and record keeping.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
· Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar electronics repair or service technician role.
· Strong understanding of analogue electronics.
· Knowledge of tube and solid-state amplifier design, diagnosis and repair.
• Basic proficiency with computers is necessary.
· Experience using electronic test equipment including multimeters and oscilloscopes.
Additional Requirements – Not Essential
· Experience with ERP or repair management systems.
· Forklift certification.

Work Environment
You will have access to your own, fully stocked workshop, with tools and instruments provided on-site.
