About the Role

Acoustic Measurement / Technician

Overview

We are seeking an Acoustic Measurement / Technician to join a collaborative audio engineering team focused on developing innovative consumer electronic products. In this role, you will support the design, validation, and optimization of audio systems throughout the product development lifecycle.

You will prototype and evaluate new audio technologies, perform detailed acoustic measurements, and collect and analyze test data to help ensure exceptional audio performance and user experience. This position works closely with cross-functional engineering teams including software, hardware, and system integration to validate product performance and support feature development.

Responsibilities

  • Perform acoustic and electrical audio measurements, including frequency response, distortion, impedance, transfer function, and related performance metrics.
  • Conduct acoustic testing using Head and Torso Simulators (HATS) in anechoic chambers, reverberation rooms, and other controlled test environments.
  • Evaluate audio hardware, DSP algorithms, speech intelligibility, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), distortion, and overall audio quality.
  • Develop, execute, and improve test procedures to ensure consistent, repeatable, and reproducible measurement results.
  • Collect, analyze, categorize, and validate measurement data while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Present test results and technical findings to engineering teams and project stakeholders.
  • Support the introduction of new measurement methodologies and integrate them into existing data management systems.
  • Maintain an organized, fully functional laboratory environment and recommend equipment improvements or maintenance when needed.
  • Support multiple development projects with aggressive timelines while maintaining high-quality testing standards.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, system integration, and user experience teams to validate product performance and resolve technical issues.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Audio Engineering, Audio Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Equivalent hands-on industry experience will also be considered.

Experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience testing audio hardware or acoustic systems.
  • Experience using industry-standard audio measurement equipment, including:
  • Head and Torso Simulators (HATS)
  • Measurement microphones
  • Audio Precision
  • HEAD Acoustics ACQUA
  • Listen Inc. SoundCheck
  • Experience performing acoustic validation in laboratory environments.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, repeatable test results.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and continuous learning.
  • Experience with laser displacement measurement systems such as Keyence, Polytec, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with scripting or automation using MATLAB and/or Python.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background or interest in hearing science and psychoacoustics.
  • Experience performing critical listening evaluations and subjective audio analysis.
  • Experience using Klippel measurement systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical and power measurements related to audio devices.
  • Experience with additional scripting or automation tools such as Max/MSP.
  • Experience supporting consumer electronics product development.
