About the Role

Aquent is partnering with a globally recognized leader in digital content and music technology. We are looking for a Commercial Insights Analyst to join a high-impact Business Strategy team operating within a premier global label ecosystem.

In this pivotal role, you will act as the “financial architect” for artist deals. You will sit at the intersection of music, finance, and law, specifically focusing on the recording side of the business. You will evaluate high-stakes deals, build the financial models that determine commercial terms, and provide recommendations that shape the label’s roster.

This is a 12 months, hybrid contract, offering £269-298 per day (PAYE). This role is open for a limited time. Next steps will be shared with shortlisted candidates by COB on Friday 20th March. Due to the high volume of applicants, we may be unable to reply to each applicant individually.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Deal Modeling: Build and refine sophisticated Excel models to evaluate potential artist signings, conducting deep-dive analysis and forecasting to recommend competitive commercial terms (advances, royalty splits, and recoupment structures).
  • Commercial Strategy: Work with Business Strategy and Finance to ensure deals are financially sound, sustainable, and aligned with the label’s long-term KPIs.
  • Deal Pipeline Management: Oversee the incoming flow of commercial deals from music teams, ensuring efficient processing, prioritization, and execution.
  • Contractual Data & Metadata: Lead the input and validation of complex contractual data. You will ensure that legal terms are accurately translated into internal databases to maintain high integrity for royalty reporting and system accuracy.
  • Cross-Functional Translation: Translate intricate financial and legal concepts into actionable insights for both technical and creative teams, ensuring alignment across the organization.
  • Process Innovation: Proactively identify opportunities to improve workflows, proposing new features or tools to enhance how the label manages its deal pipeline.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Music Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of the music business, including familiarity with music contract terminology (e.g., royalty points, recoupment, PPD).
  • Advanced Excel & Modeling: Proven ability to build complex, dynamic financial models from scratch to forecast revenue and artist ROI.
  • Analytical Prowess: Ability to evaluate commercial deals not just as spreadsheets, but as strategic investments aligned with broader business goals.
  • Data Integrity: Exceptional attention to detail in data administration and contract validation.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Strong communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholders across Legal, Finance, and Creative departments.
